Literature Text

These are now my eyes: strictly black and white
An iris shade of empty, the pupil dark as night
The color is an absent, the black is none but pain
Only I can cry this black and white rain

This is now my mouth: strictly black and white
White is known to lie, the black known to be right
Molars bleached like snow, lips as dense as tar
Speaking through your teeth here won't get you very far

These are now my ears: strictly black and white
While white can take the cold, black won't hear one fight
Hair always done up, white doesn't seem to mind
But black wants hair down to make it hard to find

This is now my nose: strictly black and white
Ugly as it is, wanting to be out of sight
White is on the outside, black dotted in between
Lasting pores up close just don't like to be seen

This is now my hair: not so black and white
It is not just one color, it simply isn't right
It seems it can't decide that black or white's okay
So if it is not either, I guess it must be gray
I'm submitting this to a poetry contest. Comment and tell me if you think it's good enough!
